USAC Annual Membership Meeting
|
|
Members and Friends,
Mark your calendars! The 2022 USAC General Membership meeting will be held this year on Wednesday, December 7, at 7:00pm (MT) via phone and video conference. Members will be able to call in via phone or video link. Details will be provided one week prior to the meeting. We encourage all members in good standing to attend. In addition to hearing updates from the Officers and our legal team, we will be holding elections for the 2023 USAC Board of Directors.
Speaking of which, we need YOU, our faithful membership, to get more involved with the fight for Stream Access. USAC is looking for motivated individuals who are willing to help drive the cause. Is that you or somebody you know? Beginning today, and ending on November 23rd, we are accepting Nominations for four (4) of USAC’s Board of Directors. These 4 directors will serve the 2023 term with Cullen Battle, Sean Leonard, and Herbert Ley who have been selected by the existing board to serve an additional term.
To be eligible for nomination, a person must:
- Be a member of USAC.
- Support the mission of the Coalition, that is: to promote and assist in all aspects of securing and maintaining public access to, and lawful use of, Utah’s public waters and streambeds.
- Be able to commit no less than 10 hours per month, on average, to the Coalition. (In peak times such as during the legislative session this commitment may be substantially greater.)
- Be able to attend, either in person or by teleconference or video conference, monthly meetings of the USAC Board of Directors.
Interested? Nominations can be submitted directly by email to Tara.Olson@utahstreamaccess.org, and will be reviewed and approved by the sitting Board of Directors. Please include with your nomination a brief paragraph about your nominee (or yourself) why they (or you) want to be involved, and why they (or you) would be an asset to USAC leadership. The ballot will be finalized one week before the membership meeting.
Thank you for your continued support!

On October 28, 2022, USAC’s pro-bono counsel completed the final briefing on USAC’s “Right to Use” case that is on appeal to the Utah Supreme Court following an unfavorable decision in district court. This case seeks to clarify the constitutional rights of all Utahns to lawfully recreate on all of Utah‘s public waters.
Oral argument before the Utah Supreme Court has not been scheduled, but we will be sure to keep you posted. Meanwhile, stay tuned!

The generosity of our members and supporters has lifted us up and allowed us to accomplish a lot over the past 12 years. We are still going strong in our legal battle, following the next steps to initiate our 501(c)(3) status in order to provide us more charitable opportunities and benefits to our supporters and donors, as well as gearing up for another charitable auction next year.
The last few years have been a great success in building up our war chest. We have you all to thank for that. Because of you, we are ready for the next moves on the legal front. Because of you, we have the opportunity to grow and support other organizations whose waters are threatened. Because of you, we are more energized than ever to fight for YOUR right to access OUR public waters. We have come a long way, but still have a ways to go to accomplish this goal.
With the holidays right around the corner, we want you all to know that while we will not be holding an auction this year, we are still working tirelessly and planning our next moves to advance our mission and continue fighting the good fight for access. Please consider donating to our war chest if you can. As always, all donations funds donated will support the Coalition’s continuing efforts to open up OUR waters to lawful public recreational access.
Thank you and Happy Holidays from our family to yours.
